68. Detektivbyrån - Om Du Möter Varg

From The Album Wermland

There are not many times I can say I have been floored by a song. Those times have occurred, though sparse and spread apart, with great monumental force. Swedish organ grinders Detektivbyran released Wermland this year after many EPs and appearances on Scandinavian television. "Om Du Möter Varg" was one of the videos released last year and served as a springboard into the cute hypnotic world of glockenspiels, bells and accordions. The power and ferocity exhibited by the members does not equal the output of sound in the song, which is incredibly interesting to watch and hear like giants crushing boulders to pluck the faintest note from a piano. Amazing. I would also like to take this oppurtunity and adress the members of Detektivbyrån:

Dear Sirs.

Please tour in the United States specifically in either New York City or Washington DC. If you do so, then my brother, Epileptic Peat, and I will buy your merchandise and any records on vinyl you may have. Listen we will even buy CDs that we already have. We have been waiting a year for your group to come to the "States. " There is a good chance that I will give your Album "best album of the year." We have told every single person we know top listen to your album. We have harassed strangers on the street. If you come to either one of those cities we can let you sleep on our floors so there is no reason to get a room. You do not even have to find a place to play. You can play at our New Years Eve party. We can go out to dinner. What do Swedish people eat? Im sure the money you will recoup from our merch sales is equal if not double your plane ticket out here.

Thank you for your consideration.

OH!

Thank you so much for all these words. It means so much for us. We have always known that we need to play again in the states, now it´s even more obvious!

Our plan is to go to US in the fall 2009, we need help with finding good shows to make a good tour!

By the way, Grinding Tapes, a very nice small record label has just released "Wermland" on vinyl in the US! 1 USD/disc goes to Amnesty and Jason at Grinding Tapes is just a lovely person so check it out: http://www.grindingtapes.org/news/

Thanks again, all the best from rainy Gothenburg, With love from Sweden, Martin & Detektivbyrån
